What is CATIA?
- [Instructor] What is CATIA? CATIA stands for computer-aided three-dimensional interactive application. It was originally released back in 1977 by Dassault Systems, who still maintain and develop the software. CATIA was initially developed for use in designing of the Dassault's Mirage fighter jet. Over the years, CATIA has developed into much more than a CAD, computer-aided design, software package. It is now a software suite which incorporates the following capabilities: CAD, computer-aided design, CAM, computer-aided manufacturing, and CAE, computer-aided engineering. The computer-aided design allows 2D and 3D designs. The computer-aided manufacturing allows you to simulate manufacturing processes based off of the design and the computer-aided engineering allows verification through analysis of the 3D models.
