- [Instructor] In The pervious video, I added dimensions to my part. Now here I'm going to add text. So I'm going to go down to the text toolbar, pull it out. Now that I have the text toolbar pulled out, what I want to do is place text without a leader in this view. Now you'll notice that I have a red boundary on the lower view or the front view, as you can see in the tree, this is indicating the work view. Because I'm placing text with Auto Leader, it doesn't know that it wants to be associated with as view, it's going to by default go into the work view.
So in order for me to get this text with Auto Leader into this view I have to double-click on it. I can do that here or I can do that in the tree. Now that it's my active view, when I place my text, select my text icon, select where I want the text to go, I can always move it afterwards, and now you'll notice that the text is being applied to that view. Once I type in what I want, if I have a second line, I need to go and hit Shift and then hit enter.
If I just hit Enter it'll apply the text without going to the next line. So once again I'll hit Shift and enter. If I have symbols that I want to apply, I have all of my symbols located in this toolbar, so I can come in here, pick the symbols that I need, and add whatever text is appropriate. Select okay, and there's my text. If I need to change the size, font, all of that stuff is located in these toolbars, or as I went into properties and dimensions, you can do the same with text, so you have all those options here as well.
Close that. Next I'm going to add text with a leader. Text with a leader does not require you to change the active view or the work view, because you are picking geometry in a view so the system automatically assumes you want the text in that view so it places it in there. So I'll pick this edge. Again, if I want to go to the next line, I have to hold the Shift key down, and then I can enter in my additional text, and all the other rules apply from the previous text editor to the text with a leader.
Hit enter; it applies my text. You'll notice that with my leader, I can adjust it's location, it's position. If I need to add another leader, all I have to do is right mouse click over the top of the leader and say Add Leader, and then point to where I need it to go. You can also grab the text and move the text around, and again, just be careful with how you're moving it. You'll notice the leaders want to split and there's automatic placement, so just be cautious. You can always adjust those later on if need be, but better to pay attention now than it is trying to fix something that it automatically does, but those are the typical methods of applying text.
So big takeaway here is if you need to apply text without a leader in view, make sure that view is active, and if you need to apply symbols or any sort of special font, you can come in, double-click on that text, you can select it in the text editor, come in and say maybe you wanted it italicized. The text editor, it's not going to show that. It will show it out on the drawing. So those are the basics behind how to apply text with and without a leader.
