In this video, author Shaun Bryant explains the purpose of CAD standards in CAD drawings.
- [Instructor] We're starting a new chapter now…in our AutoCAD Developing CAD Standards course,…and what we're going to look at first of all…is the purpose of CAD standards…in your AutoCAD drawings.…Now, you can see I've got a new drawing open for you.…It's called 01_CADStandards.dwg,…and as usual you can download that from the website…and use it to follow along with the video.…Now, when I say CAD standards, what you're doing…is you're basically making your AutoCAD drawing very boring,…and the whole idea is that boring is good.…
Boringly consistent is very good.…Everything has to be boringly consistent.…If you can remember that phrase when…you're working in AutoCAD, you've kind of got…it made really, because the whole idea…is that everything should be so consistent…and so precise so that when you either…plot your drawing, print your drawing,…or send it out as a PDF, or as a DWF to a client,…a contractor, an architect, and so on,…the whole idea is they can just look at it,…and they go, that goes there, that dimension is there.…
