- There are three waves that have defined the modern technology era. PC, internet, and mobile. All indicators point to virtual reality as being within the fourth wave of technology innovation. According to research by Fortune magazine, virtual and augmented reality sales are forecast to hit 150 billion dollars by 2020. We are seeing an interesting transition within VR, where the focus has gone from a pure entertainment perspective, to more practical directions, where doctors are using the technology in innovative ways that have nothing to do with media or entertainment.
