You can't change the weather: What can you do?

- Now that we've discussed what happens to your body when you're doing a lot of physically demanding activity in the heat and humidity, your next question is probably, what can I do about it? Well, we really can't control the weather, but what we can do is consider the body's mechanisms for ridding itself of heat, and then take steps to help those mechanisms be more effective to prevent heat-related illnesses. To begin with, remember the mantra of water, rest and shade. I know this may sound basic, but these three things are the most important factors to working, training, or competing in the heat and humidity. And like the personal physical factors I discussed earlier, these are things that we can control. You need to understand that the body is up to 60% water.
