- So, congrats, you finished my course. We have learned about the basics of urban design. We've learned what an urban designer does. We've created a city-wide urban design framework and we've really looked at an urban center and what are the physical ingredients that make these places successful. That's really awesome. Now, if you want to continue to pursue urban design, I would recommend a couple of books. You should read Jane Jacobs, the Death and Life of Great American Cities, and Jan Gehl's, Life Between the Buildings. It's also really important for an urban designer to be proficient in specific software like Adobe's Creative Suite and SketchUp and there are plenty of courses on LinkedIn Learning where you can learn all about this and become experts.
