- [Instructor] Something that you quickly learn when you take a role in BIM management is that people are resistant to change. What you should not do is take that personally. Instead, you need to realize they have reasons for being resistant to change, and these are reasons you will need to overcome. The first tool you can use to overcome this resistance to change is a level of authority. This tool could be as simple as being an authority on a topic, such as technology, or an authority on a business issue, such as project procurement or the reduction of risk.
For this discussion, we will break authority up differently by who gives it, people, and their needs. These people will be grouped into three categories: internal authority, external authority, and client needs. While often external, our client needs is a different type of authority for the basis of this discussion. Now, let's talk about each type of authority.
