- This course is aimed at existing construction management personnel that want to gain an understanding of the principles and concepts of lean and how they apply to the construction industry. It'll also be very useful to construction management students and those who are learning about the industry. As I progress through this course, I will use some terms and refer to some processes that might be unique to the construction industry, so if you're new to the industry, you might benefit from checking out my construction management foundations course first. Although most of the discussion here will focus on applying lean principles to the overall construction project and many of my examples will explore implementation from a general contractor's point of view, the principles and concepts that are presented as a means to reduce waste and improve productivity as just as applicable to trade contractors. Speaking of trade contractors, I've talked to many of them that are a little perplexed the first time the walk into a lean planning and scheduling session on a new project, so this course is a great resource for anyone in the construction industry to gain an understanding of the processes and what can be expected. Let's get started.
