- I'm sure you heard of LEED before. You might have even worked on, or are working on, projects pursuing LEED certification. Are you confused about all of the LEED rating systems, versions, prerequisites and available credits? Maybe you're looking for some perspective on leveraging the strengths of your project's location, team or accessible services toward the goal of creating a truly green building, and also achieving recognition with a LEED certification level. I'd like to give you a complete overview of the LEED certification process and discuss what it truly means to build green. Then, I'll go into detail about each and every LEED certification category, with examples of the credits you can pursue when working on your green building project. I'm Fulya Kocak Gin, and I'm a LEED fellow with experience in LEED certifying a wide variety of projects over the last two decades. I began my career as a construction project manager. And today, I am the head of sustainability for Nareit, the trade association for real estate investment trusts in the US. I'm excited to share with you the practical knowledge of LEED that I've gained over the years, along with the technical concepts behind it all.
