Types of resin printers and terminology

- There are several different 3D printing technologies that use liquid resin as a printing material. - The terminology in this field isn't very consistent. We'll define what we are calling a particular technology as we go, but some manufacturers will refer to it differently. - We like to think about the field as divided into two major classes of resin printing. The most common resin printing technology uses a laser or other light source to selectively harden photosensitive resin in a small vat or tray. Printers that use variations of this technology are referred to as SLA, DLP, LCD, or simply Resin 3D Printers. They can only use one material at a time when printing. - [Woman] There are other machines that use a process similar to inkjet printing to spray a layer at a time.
