Steps to take in extreme conditions

- In addition to the precautions already identified, extra measures will be needed to protect workers under very high or extreme risk levels. I'm going to tell you that the best advice here is to just reschedule any non-essential worker training activities and move tasks to a time when the exposure will be at a reduced level. In this heat-hazard category, you really have to consider this. I'll give you an example. We had a particularly hot summer recently and I can tell you that I did have construction clients who regularly stopped work when the conditions outside put that site into this extreme heat-risk category. It's just not worth it. Start and end the shifts early before it gets too hot and hazardous if you can. If this really isn't possible, build on the precautions outlined under the high heat-hazard category, by ensuring that people are aware of this new extreme risk and that they're taking additional steps…
