- Okay, now let's talk about safety. And there's a few obvious things when it comes to soldering and safety, and there's a few not so obvious things. And first and foremost that I want to go over is eye protection. So often I see people just sitting there with no glasses, no eye protection whatsoever, and they're soldering. And there's a couple of problems there. Number one, when you go to solder, and you're soldering the back of something, right, that solder can spatter a little bit. I've seen it happen. The flux in there gets really hot, and you see a little blip of liquid go flying. That goes in your eyes, that's not good. Number two that people don't really think about that much is once you're done soldering, you have leads like these wire leads here. And when I cut these, of course that one didn't go flying, but sometimes they do go flying. That goes in your eye, big problem. So always wear eye protection. Now…
