Schematic design (SD)

- What is the goal of the Schematic Design, or SD phase? The main goal is to define the project in terms of size, form, and materiality, but all in very broad terms for further development in later phases. During the SD phase, you'll meet with the client, the user groups, and other stakeholders to gather information and present the options and receive client input. Concepts will be tested and discussed, some will be further developed while others will be shelved, or completely tossed. For you to be successful in the Schematic Design phase, it's important to keep an open mind, be sensitive to the needs of the end user, generate ideas for solving problems, and define goals.
