- [Instructor] The most common type of electrical blueprints, especially in construction, are plan view blueprints. A plan view is a two-dimensional representation of an area, or even a building, that shows new and existing elements of an installation. It could be an outdoor area, or site drawing, like this. Let's take a look at this site drawing. As I zoom in, you can see the outline of a building here that's being built. You see it? And then I move over a little bit, move up. Here's a parking lot, so you know we're dealing with outside elements. Let's get in a little bit closer. Look at that, remember our symbol list? Here are some outside light fixtures. These are pole-mounted light fixtures. Let's move around a little bit more. Here comes the incoming utility service.
