Material jetting and its applications

- [Instructor] Instead of having a tank or tray full of resin, it's also possible to spray tiny droplets of resin, like the ink in an inkjet printer. The droplets are hardened by a light source as they're deposited in each layer. This is called resin jetting, material jetting, or photopolymer jetting or PJ. Note that there are other technologies with similar names that are fundamentally powder processes, like Jet Fusion and binder jetting. We're focusing here on the jetting processes that only use liquid resin as a build material. The machines are more expensive than the consumer-level SLA, DLP, or other printers. However, they do have capabilities that aren't available with cheaper technologies. - [Instructor] Obviously, tray-based resin prints need to be all one color. If you want a multicolored part, you need to print it in pieces and assemble the pieces after the fact, or paint them. Spraying resin makes it possible…
