- As this type of construction gains momentum, and I believe it will continue to do so, it will have a major impact on the industry. It provides a very different career path for people interested in the construction trades and for people who were more interested in working at a factory environment and maybe never considered construction. It also expands opportunities for construction managers and people interested in Building Information Modeling or BIM and Virtual Designing Construction or VDC. If you're in the AEC Industry, this trend is absolutely one to watch and keep up with. I mentioned technology throughout this course, and I talked about how in some ways it's technology like BIM and VDC that have enabled offsite prefabrication of construction assemblies.
