- [Instructor] We're getting this BIM lingo down. The IFC, Industry Foundation Class. This is a tool used to share data between BIM models from different vendors. No, Autodesk is not the only BIM vendor. When we bring BIM through the full cycle, we need help, lots of help. More help than some vendors lead you to believe. Luckily, there's the IFC. This is an independent group that has established protocol for application-neutral, object-specific data. The problem is, that duct in Revit is an MV part in AutoCAD. I have no clue what it is in MicroStation. Revit doesn't know what an MV part is. AutoCAD doesn't know what a duct is. MicroStation doesn't know what either is, and Navisworks just doesn't care. Can't we all just get along? IFC is the Switzerland of BIM, so looking at IFC, what's nice about it is the fact that it is directly exported from most applications. What we can see here is we have Revit, Export, IFC. The good thing is this actually works. There's no real downloads…
