- 360 degree cameras allow the real world to be captured and presented to a user in virtual reality in a very realistic manner. It's this capturing of the real world with film and video that allows a user to be transported to places and situations they may never experience. For journalism this can bring an intimate and interactive experience to viewers allowing them to experience events around the globe as they unfold as if they were there. This is truly an entirely new communication platform. Allowing viewers to feel present in the situation provides the ability to share experiences and adventures, and therein lays the key, not just projecting a story on a flat screen but rather immersing and bringing that experience to the viewer. Film and documentary makers are using 360 degree film to find new ways to tell stories.
