Importing the STL

- [Instructor] Okay, so now I'm going to go ahead and take the data that I created and import that into CATIA. You can use any CAD system that is capable of importing in an STL. So first step here is creating my part file that I want to use. The STL file, again, is just a generic file, scanners will kick out an STL file. And then that's basically your neutral file format that's going to be used in other CAD systems. So here, I'm going to make my initial part and I'm going to give it a name and save the part off, so I'll just go over to the top here, Properties, and once again, I'm doing this in CATIA, but you can use any CAD system, NX, whatever it is you have that can manage this. And this is the same basic principles are going to be consistent throughout. So we'll give this our name. And now that I have it named, I'm going to go ahead and import my STL in, so we'll hit the Import button. Locate the file, and make sure you have the correct units specified. This may cause a problem…
