How designers find prototyping options

- In this movie, we're going to talk about some approaches that you can take when you start your journey on this prototyping for your idea. So if you're in a school, or you're taking a design class, there's a likelihood that they already have a prototype shop or some kind of materials and processes available to you to actually try prototyping yourself. However, if you're not at one of these locations and you're on you're own, and you're just an inventor, where do you get started? You're going to have to look at where your community has, so there's actually some maker locations inside of certain communities, so if you live in one of the bigger cities, there might actually be what we call the maker places. And through the maker place, you yourself can sign up for a subscription. They'll teach you how to 3D print, or how to CAD or how to weld, or how to machine, and once you pass their certification, you just bring in your raw materials, and you can then be a maker yourself.
