- Sometimes we can start out with great walking and working surfaces, but they become slip and fall hazards due to the weather. Talking about rain, snow, and ice. It doesn't really matter what the actual walking or working surface is when it gets covered with snow or ice, your new surface is just going to be that snow and ice and that's really going to be a slip and fall hazard. The only real solution here is to get rid of it. You need to clear your walkways and your working areas of snow and ice before they're used or people are going to slip and fall. This could be employees, coworkers, customers, or you. The only way to prevent this is to clear the hazard. Snow should be shoveled away to create paths and if the surface is icy, that ice needs to be thawed away. Now there are several things that you can use to de-thaw the ice.
