Graphic symbols and lettering

- Drafting is about more than just illustration, it's about communication. As such, one of the most unique and recognizable aspects of a technical drawing is that it contains all manner of text, notes, symbols, and numerical dimensions directly on the drawings. These notes and callouts are an integral part of the drawing and critical of its purpose of conveying some sort of intent. There are hundreds of standard symbols used to show complex concepts and communicate important information. Some of these are universal, like the north arrows in graphical bar scales that we looked at previous, others are unique to specific disciplines, like showing a quarter round arc symbol to represent the direction of a door swing in an architectural floor plan. So let's start by adding some dimensions to one of the drawings we've been working on previously.
