Geolocating a massing model in SketchUp
- [Instructor] This model of the San Luis Obispo Downtown is available in SketchUp's 3D Warehouse. It's a very detailed Massing model and it contains most of the downtown. What I've done is to simplify this model by focusing in on just four city blocks. And that's what you'll find in the Massing exercise file. I've also color coded four potential locations in blue for a cafe that I'd like to hypothetically open. And I'd like to do a shadow study to help determine which one of these four locations would be most auspicious in terms of solar exposure. To begin this process, let's go up to the window menu and open up Model Info, go to the Geo-location page and you'll see that the model is not currently geo-located. You could set the manual location by imputing Latitude and Longitude coordinates, but a more intuitive way is to instead click Add Location.
