Fixing a cold solder joint

- Another common mistake that beginners make is a cold solder joint, and a cold solder joint occurs when you heat one part of the component or the PCB more than the other and the solder tends to flow to that one component. In my example, I have a cold solder joint here that the solder is balled up on the lead of this LED in the board. And this is a very simple fix. Unlike other fixes, though, I really do like to add a little more flux, if available. And there's two methods of doing this. You can add a little bit of solder because if you're using flux core solder there's flux in it, or you can use a pen. I'm going to go ahead and use this pen. That's just going to help that wedding action for when we remelt it because we want a good electrical and mechanical connection. And then, all I have to do is go in there with a nice hot soldering iron and make sure that I add heat right at the connection of the PCB and the lead…
