- Okay, now we're going to get into something a little more trickier, although it's not that difficult. A lot of people think that surface mount soldering is too difficult to do by hand and that a robot must do it. And the reality is in some cases, you're right. Some of these parts are so small, it's nearly impossible. But in the vast majority of the cases, you actually can hand-solder it, even with a typical soldering iron or using something like a hot air rework station. But before you do anything, you need to prep the boards. It's really important, whether you're using regular solder, or if you're using a solder paste. And we're going to go over all of those in future videos, but let's talk about prepping the board. You really need to use something like an alcohol wipe. This is 99.9% isopropyl alcohol.
