Devices that are part of the Internet of Things

- So now we're going to go hands on with couple of IoT devices just to give you an idea of what exactly these skeins can do. I'm going to start with something simple, turning the lights off. Right, simply can be controlled with the touch of a button. Then we can move on to more complex tasks like changing the color and tone of lighting, right? Or even changing the brightness of lighting. All just with the swipe of a hand. Now you can do the same thing with voice commands through Alexa. There's just a plethora of capabilities wrapped around this particular IoT system. Now the beautiful thing is that you can actually interconnect all of these devices back with any other system that you may have. We also want to show how these particular power tools work. The Milwaukee One Key System right here actually allows you, and I'm going to go ahead and open the one key app. To remotely connect using bluetooth to this device. So you'll see here as I'm connecting, it's allowing me to load on (whirring). See there's, it's a power tool. It still works. The beautiful thing is it has an override so if you don't want to use the wireless capabilities, you don't have to. But you can actually go in remotely and change all of the settings. One, two, three and four that are listed right here on top of the device, and you can change things like torque, maximum speed, and much much more. You can also remotely lock and unlock these devices So as I walk up to this device, I can say, okay, let's show nearby devices. Now it's listing the device, now it's connecting. If I lock the tool out, you'll see that it remotely locks, and now when I pull my trigger, nothing happens. This is great because tools go stolen all the time, so you can actually electronically turn this into a brick. Of course, the inverse applies. I can unlock the device and then I'm (whirring) back to normal operations. So really useful. You can then go into tool controls, and even drop the speeds up. So you can see right here, now I applied the low torque, low speed settings. It's low torque, low speed, and a slow ramp up. I can modify torque level, maximum speed. I can also do trigger ramp up to make it do a shorter or longer trigger ramp up. (whirring) See that one? And then I can actually jump my speed up. Then I can go to a high speed option as well, and go to fix torque, high speed option, and again, you can do (whirring) all kinds of stuff. So this really turns one power tool into a whole bunch of power tools and it solves a big part of my problem in locating where my tools are, who used them, for how long, and it also allows me to customize this. Let's say this is Jimmy's power tool. When I work up to Jimmy's power tool, I can load my settings on. Then I have it configured entirely to my desires, and then when he walks up, he can pair it back to his phone. Over here we also have the DeWalt. DeWalt power tools are fantastic. This is a really great hammer drill, and you can see I can connect directly here to the hammer drill. I'm connected. I can also do disabling the power drill. It's going to disable your tool. Your tool is successfully disabled, and now when I pull the trigger now. The cool thing that DeWalt did is they incorporated a very common IoT concept called geofencing. Geofencing is when you draw an invisible electronic fences based on GPS or proximity. So I actually have this particular power tool set, to when I walk away from it, it automatically disables the power tool. So I don't have to remember to disable it. When I walk away from my tool, it automatically disables the tool, so I can actually re-enable it, and then I have my power tool back and can go (whirring) and drill again. So, these IoT tools just give you an infinite combination of options to control your power tools, your drills, your lights and much, much, much more.
