- [Instructor] Once you pass the exam and become a LEED Green associate or AP, you are expected to continue to grow and practice what you learned on LEED projects. The LEED credentials are not yours forever unless you maintain them. Your LEED credentials are required to be maintained in two year cycles, starting when the credential is earned. A LEED Green associate is expected to complete 15 continuing education hours, three of which must be LEED specific. LEED specific activities are those that focus on topics directly tied to LEED credit categories and credits and or prerequisites found in any of the current LEED rating systems. For example, while a course on green building materials may count as a general, another one discussing how the green material procurement strategy can meet LEED credits under building (mumbles) and optimizations would be considered LEED specific.
