- [Female Narrator] Resin 3D prints are well suited for mold making. Resin prints are created by a photochemical effect, that is by melting plastic. Therefore, it's possible to have resins that are very high, or very low melting points. Somewhat independent of their properties during the printing process. Filament materials for 3D printing, have to melt at a lower temperature for this to work. You might think about direct printing your production run. However, using a 3D printed mold instead, allows you to use higher volume traditional manufacturing more cheaply, and work with metals without investing in direct metal printing. - [Male Narrator] Specialty resins have been developed for the traditional lost wax investment casting process, for making metal jewelry.
