Join Eric Wing for an in-depth discussion in this video Creating assemblies, part of BIM Tools Weekly.
- [Instructor] In this video I'd like to create an assembly.…Essentially what an assembly is…are a group of items that can be just that, grouped.…Once we group 'em though,…we're gonna have automatic sections that show up…and then we can actually tag 'em…based on what the assembly is.…So for example, maybe my assembly wants to be a restroom.…So jump into any model that you want…and I'm gonna start selecting items,…hold down the control key…and start pickin' the items that you want in your assembly.…
I've selected a few items…now I am going to click on the create assembly button,…naming category what it's gonna do,…it's gonna find whatever is in there,…since I have a bunch of stuff,…I'll just go with generic models I suppose.…For the name, I'll call it Lavatory,…then we will click OK.…It's now an assembly.…
Let's go ahead and create views,…notice we now have a group of items when we hover over it.…Select your assembly, click create views,…the scale, I don't know it chooses half inch equals a foot,…but that's fine we can keep it.…

Q: Why can't I earn a Certificate of Completion for this course?
A: We publish a new tutorial or tutorials for this course on a regular basis. We are unable to offer a Certificate of Completion because it is an ever-evolving course that is not designed to be completed. Check back often for new movies.
