- We've just covered the foundations of what it takes to become an architect and the process an architect goes through to bring a vision to reality. My goal was to give you a high level view of what architects do and share the language architects use. I've been an architect for many years but I learn new things every day. So my next step for you is to stay curious and keep learning. And to get started, here's a few resources that shaped who I am as an architect and I highly recommend. The Architect's Handbook of Professional Practice published by the American Institute of Architects. The work of other architects like Tadao Ando and Thom Mayne. And simply start paying attention to the buildings and spaces that surround you. Local museums, galleries, theaters, libraries, and university campuses. Think about what purpose they serve and how they effect the people that occupy them and inspire their lives. Thank you, and good luck on your architecture journey.
