- There are many ways to expand our knowledge of the built environment and how we make use of it. I would start with visiting as many places of interest, whether they are hospitals or hotels, schools or malls, and observing what makes them work and what doesn't. What are some features that you enjoy or find helpful or inspiring? I would also suggest keeping a sketchbook or journal to write down your own observations and thoughts. Second, I would highly encourage taking courses here on LinkedIn and elsewhere on architecture and the built environment. My course, Architectural Design Process Foundations, here on LinkedIn Learning, will guide you through all the phases a project might go through from start to finish and will help you understand the steps that are universal to completing any project type.
