- [Female Voice] Resin printer operation has some significant differences from filament printing. In this movie, we'll review typical costs of purchasing and operating consumer-level resin printers. - [Male Voice] Resin printers use light to selectively harden liquid resin in one of several ways. The earliest designs use the laser to trace out the shape of each layer and some popular designs still work this way. The high intensity of the laser means that it can expose resin very quickly but it must trace out the entire layer. Later designs replace the laser with a DLP projector that exposes an entire layer at once. Which approach is faster depends on how much of the material in any given layer needs to be hardened. Recently, a slew of new designs have hit the market that place an LCD screen against the bottom of the vat, making resin printing much more affordable.
