- As you know, winning a project means that you've probably given the owner an estimate of the cost of the project, as well as your fees for managing. With today's technology, you're now able to extract information from the model that will help you understand the quantities of the elements that will be needed to create the project. Depending on how detailed the model is will determine how much information you have to work with. Most authoring software and coordination software has a function that allows you to query the model to find out these quantities. The methods vary from each platform, but the idea that you can get a general sense of the volume and quantities within the model are the same. The information you extract can be brought into software like Google Sheets, Excel, or any other spreadsheet software.
