Background to frequency response (FR) analysis

- [Instructor] In this video, we're going to look at the background to frequency response analysis. Again there's a few key parameters we need to think about. What is frequency response analysis? Well, many loading environments have got a very strong, sustained, what we call periodic content. So, they can have a constant amplitude and phase across a frequency range, so for example, something like a shaker table, or an exciter. It's oscillating all the time as it's driving, so it's like a stinger or a shaker, an exciter. We can define that amplitude and phase as a function of the frequency. Now it could be constant or it can vary, so things such as rotating systems, vortex shedding, road surfaces, engine load inputs, helicopter blades going round, they all have this periodic type of input.
