- As we start to learn about BIM, we have the tendency to only consider what BIM is for our specific field. An architect will often confuse it with 3D modeling. The contractor may think BIM is for coordination and analysis only. And the owner may just see the value of the 3D rendering. So these are just few example of real life perception of BIM. It doesn't mean they're all wrong or right. It's just bigger picture view of how a variety of professional may view BIM. For starter, everyone is impacted and benefit from BIM. Every building industry stakeholders has a part to play and profit from its use. The BIM lifecycle, like a building's life, has four phases: BIM renovation programmation, BIM design, BIM construction, and BIM for facility management and maintenance.
