Join Eric Wing for an in-depth discussion in this video Attaching columns to a beam, part of BIM Tools Weekly.
- [Instructor] Suppose we have a situation like we see here…where we have a cantilevered beam.…Now our column still wants to go from column one…to top-level column two, but the problem is…we want our cantilever to run uninterrupted…and be supported by the column underneath.…A very typical situation.…But what we can see if we select this column,…and if I look at level one to level two,…you notice the top offset is some funky number…because that's the width of our beam.…We don't want to have to guess what that is…so we can actually use the Attach function.…
Let's do that.…To get started, let's jump into Revit,…and I want to go to Open,…I'm going to browse to where I'm keeping my exercise files,…and I'm going to find my Attach Revit model.…Of course, you can use any Revit model you want.…I'm going to click Open.…Now what we'll see is in 3D is all of our columns…are going from level one to level two.…So in our project browser, let's bounce up to level two.…
I'm going to zoom in here and do a little bit of framing.…

Q: Why can't I earn a Certificate of Completion for this course?
A: We publish a new tutorial or tutorials for this course on a regular basis. We are unable to offer a Certificate of Completion because it is an ever-evolving course that is not designed to be completed. Check back often for new movies.
