Writing a simple program: C Essential Training: 1 The Basics

The standard parts of a typical C program include the #include preprocessor directive to insert a header file that supports functions in the source code. The main() function is required by all C programs as it's the first function executed. Statements are enclosed in a function and they execute top down. The main() function ends with a return statement, which passes a value back to the operating system.
