Working with the switch-case structure: C Essential Training: 1 The Basics

The switch case structure is a selection statement. A singe value must be specified by switch, not a comparison. The comparison in a selection statement is with the various case statements. When the comparison is true, statements belonging to case are executed. The break keyword is used to prevent program execution from falling through the entire structure. The default keyword catches all conditions not intercepted by the case statements.
