Learn about detecting faces in an image, and in particular a choice to call the Microsoft Cognitive Services Face Detect API. Learn about the identification of the faces, in this case, by drawing rectangles to indicate where the face was detected on an image, and the image manipulation library ImageSharp which you chose for your solution.
- [Instructor] Detecting faces in an image…requires machine learning or computer vision algorithms.…This is not mathematics that I understand in depth,…so for me it will be a matter of calling an API.…And we basically have two choices,…a library on the local device, or an API over the internet.…Now, a library on the local device…will be quick to call, but it will be constrained…in terms of the performance available,…based on the device it's running on.…But more importantly, it will not get…updates as often as those online.…
And given the competition among the big players,…we can expect the APIs published over the internet…to improve rapidly and to add features quickly.…The other part of the challenge is to draw a bounding box…around the faces in the image.…This is something fun we can do in C#.…All the big cloud providers provide…some kind of AI or machine learning API.…Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM Watson, they all have APIs…that include face detection for images.…
And they all look pretty much the same.…There's an HTTP endpoint, you submit your image.…
