- So how do you raise your rates without alienating your existing client base? There are three ways I can think of offhand, and I bet once I suggest these three, you'll think of a few more. Let's go through them. The first way is to remember that raising your rates is a great reason to reach out both to your existing clients and your previous clients. To check in, let them know that you're growing and developing, whatever new news you have, and to let them know that as of X date, your rates will be increasing. You can then let them know that because they are an existing or previous client, they're getting a special discount. You're only going to raise their rates to X rather than all the way to Y, which is the new rate. And you can do this in a couple of ways. You can either say, "Look, as of this date, "my rate is going to be Y, "but your rate is only going to X." Or, "Your rate is only going to X for this…
