- I get this question all the time from my one on one clients. Do I tell my micromanager that they're being a micromanager? My answer is yes and no. In order to improve your relationship with your micromanager, overcommunication is imperative to your success and your sanity. But I don't think you should flat out say in your next one on one, "Hey, so I've been meaning "to tell you, you're driving me crazy "with all your micromanaging. "Could you cut that out?" I have a feeling that probably won't go over very well. Instead I want you to tee up the conversation and follow this framework. What, why, how. I want you to give them a specific example of that they are doing. Then I want you to explain to them why that can be frustrating. And finally, I want you to ask how you can both agree on a pathway forward. Here's a scripted example of how this could play out in your next one on one meeting. "So, I was wondering if…
