The team does not swarm

- Swarming is when the entire development team is working on a single product backlog item or story all together at the same time. Developers are pairing, testers are right there with them ensuring that the code approach and test strategy are in alignment. When teams do this, the immediate benefit is that everyone is stepping out of their individual skill based silos and working as a cohesive unit. They're all striving toward the same goal. Some additional benefits include fewer defects, reduced WIP, and as a result less context switching within the sprint. When teams are first forming or facing a particularly challenging story, swarming is a great technique to use. You may wonder why, but the reason is really very simple. It forces the team to step outside their comfort zone and learn from each other. It teaches new skills and encourages collaborative behavior. Some teams are resistant to the idea.
