The systems thinking feedback loop

- When we experience problems, we often focus on what we are experiencing at the moment, and don't always take the time to reflect on how the problem arose in the first place. A systems approach to problem solving reminds us to think about the possible mismatch between how things work in the real world and how we think they work. This mismatch between how things are and how we think they are is likely the origin point of most of the problems we face. So the question is, how can we be better thinkers to decrease this mismatch? In other words, how can we improve the alignment between our thinking and the reality of things? It may be hard to believe, but the crux of systems thinking is represented by a simple feedback loop. There are four parts of the loop. First, we observe the real world. This is what we experience every day. And with each experience, we build a mental model of that experience.
