The sweet spot between yes and no

The sweet spot between yes and no

- So if you receive a request and you'd like to be helpful in some way, maybe there's a strategic reason to do it or maybe you just really care about the person, there is a sweet spot between saying yes and saying no, which is "I can't do that, but here's what I can do." So going back to when I was writing the book and founders were reaching out who wanted to pitch me their businesses, if I took a meeting with them that was basically three hours of my time including prep and travel and the actual meeting. So instead what I might do is offer to introduce them to a potential investor which would take five minutes of my time, or maybe I would do a quick review of their deck and share some of my thoughts with them. So that was a way where I could still be helpful, but it wasn't taking up a full three hours. It was a much lower lift way to help. (gentle music)
