- All great communication techniques are nothing that good con artists don't already know and use daily to bilk money from unsuspecting people. The difference between using these skills for manipulation and using them for good lies in your unwavering commitment to being ethical and moral. 30 years ago, I was introduced to Dr. Sissela Bok's four moral constraints. I have adopted them ever since, and have even added a fifth. In this lesson, I want you to understand how these five moral constraints can impact the way your message is received. First, tell the truth, as often as you can, and whenever you can, tell the truth. Truth telling engenders trust, and trust builds relationships. Lying not only takes you out of your own personal integrity, it's the fastest way to erode trust. Think about it.
