- [Instructor] On average, we spend 90,000 working hours during our lives. That's over a third of most people's time on the planet. HR is the function inside companies that creates the services employees need to do that work by providing them with guidance, conditions, and reward for their work. This is known as the deal. The deal sets out how people and their work interplay as exchanges for work done and wages paid in return. Motivations, operating goals to set out success and how teams work together to support each other to deliver those goals, and systems, processes and resources, job specifications that enable an organization to deliver its goods and services. Management thinker, Peter Drucker, once said, "The purpose of a business "is to create and keep a customer."
