The progress principle
- So there's this interesting theory in human motivation research known as the Progress Principle, and it holds that all of us as human beings crave a sensation of forward momentum, of progress in our lives and in our careers, and when we lack it, it can feel frustrating, we can feel stuck, and it can be downright depressing. It can even lead to burnout when you're not even feeling overwhelmed by your day-to-day workload. The good news is, if you feel stuck in a career rut, you can transform your reality. It's just going to require a little bit of self-advocacy to get there. A dream job, after all, isn't something that's found. It's made. I'm Emily Aries, an author, speaker, and career strategist, and together in this LinkedIn Learning course, we'll help you get unstuck from a career rut.
