The problem with smart

(upbeat rock music) - Hey, my name's Todd, and I'm pretty smart. I mean, sometimes so smart it gets me in trouble. Yeah, did you know that? Sometimes being really bright can get you in a lot of trouble. So, listen up, smarties. Being smart is wonderful. It means better grades, better jobs, faster promotions. That's great, but very often it means that you're limiting yourself without even knowing it. You can annoy people, or put them off just a little, without ever meaning to do that. Have you ever wondered why socializing sometimes feels a little difficult? Well, it's because being smart can cause you some problems. For example, sometimes you speak up too often. You've all seen it. Hey, I know the answer, right here (laughs). When you do that, people just think you're a know-it-all. You often have trouble relating to people effectively.
