The first day
- Finally, the big day is here and your new employee has arrived. Now it's time for some form of orientation and there is no correct amount of time to spend on orientation. Some companies allocate no formal time, which is not appropriate, and others actually have long processes that can last for multiple weeks at dedicated training facilities. No matter how long it is, let's think about a few orientation best practices worth implementing. The most common way to kick things off is a meet and greet. This allows you to introduce the new person and allows a little relationship building to begin. Invite the entire team and consider bringing food to make it festive.
