- Anyone can make a list, I know that, but making a list properly will make you more empowered and less stressed, not to mention, you'll actually get more done. Here are my top four tips for making a better to do list. Number one, make your list at night. Before you leave your desk every night, make a to do list for the next day. I did this both when I was a senior TV producer working in network news, and now as a media trainer and author working for myself. Believe me, daily to do lists are the way to go. Here's what you do. Run through every single thing you need to do the following day. I mean everything. List out every meeting you have, call you need to make, an email that you'll write, that way, when you get to your desk in the morning, you have a roadmap in front of you and you can hit the ground running.
